Restoration: 1970s - 1980s
In the late 1970s and early 1980s the stained glass windows were restored after two successful fundraising campaigns. The fundraising campaign in 1982 called, “Save Our Windows,” included a talent auction. The windows were restored by Serpentino, a company located in Needham.
Over a period of time, each of the window panels from the sanctuary was carefully removed, and the position of each small piece of glass was noted by a manner similar to a gravestone rubbing. The pieces of glass that had been broken were refired and new leading was inserted between the pieces. Then the windows were carefully rehung.
